Don Hathaway

Board Chairman
Hello, my name is Don Hathaway and I am the Chairman of the Advisory Board at QA Consultants. I have been a chief executive officer with business, a senior partner with international consultancies and a corporate director on multiple boards while accumulating expertise in strategy, finance, risk management, marketing and corporate governance. I have held more than 40 board, committee and board chair roles on public, private and not-for-profit boards. An engineer and a serial entrepreneur, I am often found on the boards of small or emerging technology companies and I have extensive experience leading public-private partnerships. Further, I have worked with the boards of many of Canada’s largest corporations on governance, finance and risk issues. Some of my other professional accomplishments include serving as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the School of Business and Economics at Wilfred Laurier University, President and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Ontario as well as President of the Institute of Management Consultants of Canada, a governor of York University, Chair of the University of Waterloo Advisory Council, a member of the Canadian Employment and Immigration Advisory Council, and a member of the Advisory Council to the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology program at the University of Waterloo. Sophie is a seasoned financial expert and a strategy consultant with broad experience in the corporate public and start-up arenas. With over 15 years of experience working on different angles of capital markets and private equity, her expertise in developing diverse funding solutions to corporates includes IPO, Bond Offering, M&A and Private Equity. Being generally well clouted, she is intimately involved with several mature and public companies as well as tech start-ups. In 2014, she moved from Tel Aviv to Toronto and established a framework of cross border business development and investment banking initiatives between both cities. Her experience and past activities range from financial research through underwriting and brokerage to business development and investment banking including distress equities and special situations. Recently, on the platform of her boutique financial and business consultancy, Sophie focused on sophisticated, long-term, high-end management services for corporate clients and engaged in Capital Markets, Financial Strategy, Equity and Debt raising, Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Development, Strategic Alliances, and Corporate Government. Sophie is a professional director on the boards of 5 public companies and financial institutions including a chair of several board committees and served as a board member of additional 6 in the past. The companies are within various industries, including development, construction, print/paper products, fuel, and consulting and financial services, with an accumulative assets balance of over 20 billion dollars. Sophie holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting and a BA in Economics and Psychology from Tel Aviv University (TAU). As a confident expert, she utilizes effective and creative approaches to solve complex business problems. Additionally, she has extensive experience and excellent social skills in building strong business relationships.

Peter Williams

Board Member
Peter Williams comes to us rich with previous experiences such as: Chairman, University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT); Chairman of the Council of Chairs, Ontario Universities; Chairman and CEO Ameritrade Canada Inc.; Chairman and CEO CT Securities Inc.; CEO & President Equitable Life of Canada; Partner In Charge, Financial Services Consulting Practice, KPMG; Senior Vice President Capital Markets and Merchant Banking Scotiabank; Executive Director and Board Member, Samuel Montagu ( London, UK) Senior Vice President Strategic Planning and Marketing Barclays North America (New York). Currently, he is on the International Advisory Board of Cardiff University’s Business School and The Canadian Robert T Jones, Jr. Scholarship Foundation. Over the past 30 years, he has been responsible for startups, turnarounds and large multinational businesses involved in the world of technology, the largest being building global capital markets from early stages to a $55 billion business. His board experience includes both the private and public sector as chair of boards and various subcommittees. Peter acted as a consultant to governments and multinationals nationally and globally; specifically advising boards in risk management and the development of effective business strategies. His accomplishments also include being the sole recipient of the national Clement Wilson Foundation Scholarship (UK) to study for an MBA at Queen’s University Northern Ireland (CGA). Peter holds multiple certifications from Canada (CPA) and the UK (AIB). On a personal note, he is a member of golf clubs, fitness clubs and choirs in Wales and Ontario as well as a ski club in the latter. He was the past President of The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir. His family includes a daughter, a son, and five grandchildren living in Ontario.
